Morso Magnetic Stove Flue Pipe Thermometer

Morso Magnetic Stove Flue Pipe Thermometer

Magnetic Stove Flue Pipe Thermometer
by Morsø (NR 6290 1200)

Also known as a flue gas thermometer or stovepipe thermometer, this simple device is a 'must have' for every wood burner or multi fuel stove owner. Being magnetic, makes it very easy to fix to the stove's vitreous enamel stove pipe –  it is therefore not suitable for inset stoves which do not feature a visible stove pipe. Even as seasoned stove operators, at The Stove Yard we find them invaluable in letting us know if we're operating our display stoves efficiently and in an environmentally friendly way. For the average stove owner it will simply help you to understand how your stove is operating, whether you're burning it too low and creating smoke and creosote or too hard, potentially damaging your stove or flue system. Most importantly it will help you maximise the efficiency of your fuel and also save you money, making it well worth its modest price. For best results, a flue gas thermometer should be placed on the flue pipe about 300mm (12") above the lid of the stove.

Here's what a stove pipe thermometer can tell you:
Higher than 250Cº – Over firing: close off the air supply
Between 110Cº and 250Cº – Normal operating range
Below 110Cº – Under-firing causing dangerous creosote build up: open up air supply
